TVGuide Online Chat Transcript
This was a Yahoo chat for TVGuide Online
Took place on April 1st, 1999
TVGDave: Welcome Robert, glad you could join us this evening.
Guest_Celeb: Hey everybody. Thanks for joining me in sci-fi land!
SCAT_6_9 asks: How long have you been acting?
Guest_Celeb: It has been about 11 years.
Guest_Celeb: I started on a soap called Loving.
Guest_Celeb: I did a few soaps, some independent film work, the infamous Beverly Hills 90210 and a lot of theater in NY
ddyrr asks: I'm curious about a few little things: When is your birthday, how tall are you, and what's your middle
name? Thanks. :)
Guest_Celeb: My birthday is December 13th; 6'2" tall; my middle name is Michael. Would you like to do my charts??
Iria55 asks: Are you married?
Guest_Celeb: No, I am young and single and I love to mingle (sorry to quote from Fame).
spitslime asks: What is Earth Final Conflict all about?
Guest_Celeb: Most of the time we have to go out in space to discover insight into other dimensions.
Guest_Celeb: However in this case, I believe the Taelons have brought some insight to our own backyard.
VitaAbOvo asks: What is it like to know that you are acting in a series which the late Gene Rodenbury created?
Guest_Celeb: Well if you know that his ashes are strewn about space, in a sense he is looking down on all of us.
Guest_Celeb: But there is a lot of responsibility to uphold a long-standing legacy.
malfoof asks: Who maintains the Roddenberry vision on the show?
Guest_Celeb: A lot of the writers are naturally Roddenberry fans. And although at times there are differing opinions, usually
the head writer has to hold on to the original vision,
Guest_Celeb: even though at times that vision can be subjectively skewed.
RSEPHIROTH asks: is the character willam boone ever be back on the show?(i've heard that he is not really dead)
Guest_Celeb: It was initimated this season that Boone is maybe lurking around. I don't have any clear idea where that possible
storyline could go and haven't
Guest_Celeb: heard anymore on the subject.
ddyrr asks: Hi Robert! Thank you for taking the time to chat with us. I was just wondering if you get fan mail during
hiatus, or do you have to wait until the end of May, when filming starts again? (Someone told me it might not even
be sent until then)
Guest_Celeb: I probably won't receive mail until I return back to the show.
Dave_Bushe asks: What are you working on over the Production break?
Guest_Celeb: I have a one-man show that I have been writing for a few years. Hopefully, I can make some headway, but I
am also
Guest_Celeb: interested in going to Japan for a bit of a vacation.
jaz_79 asks: Do you enjoy acting as Liam? and Will you be staying on as Liam until the show ends or do you have
other plans?
Guest_Celeb: I enjoy acting the part. I am excited about the following season because my character heads in a new direction.
enigmaticSphynx asks: HOW has your 8 months or so shooting EFC episodes been like? Any juicy spoilers for
season three?
Guest_Celeb: I could tell ya, but I would have to kill ya!
Guest_Celeb: But seriously, working on the show I feel I have run a marathon and am actually quite changed by the
experience.
Guest_Celeb: The responsibility of being the leading man on a tv show is different--a lot of people look to you as a character
and an actor to sort of take the lead.
Guest_Celeb: So it becomes challenging to maintain a consistent attitude thruout the year.
Iria55 asks: "Does the pressure for you comparing to Boone become overwhelming?
Guest_Celeb: I don't feel as if the characters were ever designed to be similar. So the comparison is more like apples to
oranges as opposed to apples to apples.
Guest_Celeb: I sense a lot people miss their emotional attachment to Boone.
Guest_Celeb: But yet, there is no direct correlation with our characters.
Grant_VFFC asks: Mr. Leeshock! Welcome! It's so nice to talk to you. A few questions. First, is your official Fan
Club going to be run by Kristen (ddyrr)? I run Von's FC and was just totally curious . How's your development
coming along in S3? Liam is just now starting to get on my good side.
Guest_Celeb: Oh, really. That's interesting! In regard to the fan club, no formal arrangements have been made. I am still open
to suggestions.
Guest_Celeb: As far as season 3 goes, the development of my character will hopefully make me much more accessible.
Guest_Celeb: I'd like to know what was it that kept you away for so long in terms of finally coming around to my good side??
jaz_79 asks: What is your point of view of Zoar?
Guest_Celeb: Zo'or possess a lot of power. So therefore is a really dangerous threat because he is able to use a power that is
intended for good, in such nefarious ways.
Guest_Celeb: So therefore I would like to kick Zo'or's ass on some level!!
Dave_Bushe asks: What can you tell us about Julia, the new character played by Janet Kidder
Guest_Celeb: She is a very opinionated, strong-willed character who basically listens to her own intuition.
Guest_Celeb: And at times gets on my nerves because she is hard to contain.
RagazzaDiMonteVerde asks: Will there be any new female leads in season 3?
Guest_Celeb: Oh yeah, baby, Oh yeah.
Endovelicus asks: what's the relation between your carachter and Leni Parker's caracther and how do you think that
relation will evolve?
Guest_Celeb: It started off as sort of a mentor-type relationship. At some point there came a time when I had to choose my
own lineage as a point from which to fight.
Guest_Celeb: And although I feel like there is much more to be learned from Ba'an, it is a shame that friendship and/or
mentorship had to be cut off before we were able to share what we potentially could have.
RichelleJordan asks: What is Lian Kincaid's true motive?
Guest_Celeb: I think the ultimate quest started out as a self discovery. However, a much bigger quest presented itself.
Therefore the focus became less on
Guest_Celeb: who I am as opposed to the safety of humanity.
ddyrr asks: Are you friends with the other cast members in real life? If so, do you socialize with any of them when
away from the set?
Guest_Celeb: We spend a lot of hours together, so at the end of the day we normally go our separate ways. However, when
we do get together, we have a blast.
Guest_Celeb: I have never met a nicer bunch of people.
Grant_VFFC asks: Mr. Leeshock -- does the cast get along very well? What about 'Sandy Sandoval' the tap dancer,
has he 'been around' lately?? :)
Guest_Celeb: Von is an incredibly talented actor. He is also a very talented dancer. He is also a huge practical joker.
Shock24601 asks: I was wondering if you know how long it took to put on the "aliens" makeup
Guest_Celeb: It takes 3 hours.
Guest_Celeb: And it looks like it is a bit of a drag at times.
Guest_Celeb: Sometimes the makeup calls can be as early as 3 am. And walking around for 12 hours with glue and latex on
your face is not my idea of a picnic.
Shock24601 asks: Wuz up, Robert. I would first like to say that I totally love the show. I think the Taelon makeup
artists r great. My question is , Do you yourself believe in aliens, or something like a stargate where you can go to
different dimensions or other worlds. Thanks
Guest_Celeb: If we dare get into philosophical discussions, I believe on some level with our thoughts, we're able to transcend
the space-time continuum.
Guest_Celeb: I have been told that thought-waves are cosmic waves that penetrate all time and space. I will let you feast on
that...
KSU_football asks: Are you a fan of any other space exploration shows
Guest_Celeb: I was a fan of the early Star Trek and the Twilight Zone but currently don't have a lot of time to watch tv.
SCAT_6_9 asks: What do you do with your spare time?
Guest_Celeb: I am trying to learn to speak Japanese.
Guest_Celeb: I really love languages; I was recently surfing in Los Angeles; and I'm trying to catch up on some reading.
Guest_Celeb: And visiting with my 10 nieces and nephews in NJ and Pennsylvania.
Dave_Bushe asks: Have you any plans to attend European Conventions ( for example StarFury Millennium who
had Richard and Leni This year)
Guest_Celeb: I would love to. If I am invited I will gladly go. Any excuse to get to Europe.
starworks5 asks: how many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop
Guest_Celeb: Who's licking?? I'm biting.
RichelleJordan asks: Where are you from originally?
Guest_Celeb: New Jersey.
princessKmint asks: Do women throw theirselves at you and if so is it annoying??
Guest_Celeb: How could that ever be annoying?? To be honest, I am not recognized from the show a lot.
Guest_Celeb: But being single is not a bad thing.
_grimis asks: How were you approached to do the show?
Guest_Celeb: Basically, a call from my agent. I read the material. It seemed very congruent with what I was studying at the
time. And a few
Guest_Celeb: auditions later and I was on my way to Toronto.
Lilli_Marquette_97 asks: Hi Robert. I want to say you have done a great job playing the role of Liam Kincaid. My
Q is what has been your favorite memory portraying Liam?
Guest_Celeb: It had to have been one of the scenes with Da'an, I felt truly emotionally connected to that relationship and once
the season progressed and I reflected back on some of our earlier episodes,
Guest_Celeb: I was actually genuinely sad to see that the relationship had changed.
princessKmint asks: Is Liam the funnest Character you have played?
Guest_Celeb: When I am doing the action sequences, sometimes I really laugh at myself. However, I have played a few
dasterdly characters that
Guest_Celeb: can actually be more fun.
Hey_Katt asks: Hi Mr. Leeshock. Nice to meet you. I am a 24 year old female who would love to get into acting
where do I start and do you have any advice for someone getting into acting?
Guest_Celeb: It is an incredibly difficult business. And I usually tell people the downside of it and after all that and they still
want to do it, I tell
Guest_Celeb: them to do it with all your heart and soul and in that way you can't be stopped.
Guest_Celeb: But on the lighter side, the first step is getting an agent. And acting acting acting.
SCAT_6_9 asks: What did you plan on being when you were growing up?
Guest_Celeb: I probably wanted to be a lot of different things. From astronaut to doctor
Guest_Celeb: but never really considered becoming an actor until my senior year in college.
Guest_Celeb: Up until then I didn't really know it existed as a profession. Which I now cherish the perspective of entertaining
other ideas throughout my life.
RagazzaDiMonteVerde asks: Will Liam get more in touch with his Kimera side in future episodes?
Guest_Celeb: The second episode of the season will answer that question very quickly. I would love to divulge the answer,
but you will have to stay tuned...
Iria55 asks: I love your character so much..please give a hint onto what's happening with your characters love life?
Guest_Celeb: As you can tell from this season, they have kept me very isolated.
Guest_Celeb: However, the new season will bring a lot more interactions on many emotional levels.
LMA_nikegirl asks: I've watched the show ever since it first aired. When do you think the Jeridians will come to
Earth???
Guest_Celeb: I thought they were coming at the end of this season.
Guest_Celeb: However at times I am perplexed as to whether they are truly good or evil.
Guest_Celeb: Therefore their arrival will be a surprise for me.
Lilli_Marquette_97 asks: How would you like to see the Liam Character develop?
Guest_Celeb: I'd llike to be able to discover a part of my character that allows me to relate more freely with other characters
so that my journey isn't such a solo experience.
Guest_Celeb: I'd like to be able to put to rest the questions regarding my heritage and/or lineage because I feel as if my
character is searching for a sort of
Guest_Celeb: existential peace of mind.
Chic_7997 asks: Would you consider yourself a role model?
Guest_Celeb: That sounds like a lot of responsiblity. However for the first time in my life, I am comfortable with that title.
Guest_Celeb: And am more apt to offer my advice to those I care about.
princessKmint asks: What is the most important lesson you have learned in life?
Guest_Celeb: The hardest question to answer in one's life is to figure out "what do you want" It is the hardest question there is
to answer.
Guest_Celeb: No one can answer it for you.
Guest_Celeb: But once you figure that out, then getting it is sort of half done.
Guest_Celeb: It is our job to figure out what we want.
Guest_Celeb: And it is some higher intelligence that determines how it manifests.
dweilert1 asks: Do these people ever get annoying to you ?
Guest_Celeb: No. I am geniunely intrigued by the questions and the politeness of everyone involved. And it actually helps me
to answer questions
Guest_Celeb: regarding my character.
Guest_Celeb: So thanks for all of your help.
TVGDave: Robert, thanks for joining us tonight. Good luck, and please come back and join us again.
Guest_Celeb: Thanks for having me and see you'all down the road at another time. I look forward to chatting with you again.
TVGDave: And thanks for all your questions tonight.
TVGDave: We wish we had the time to answer more of them.
